Your Festive Footwear Fix
put some shimmer in your shimmy
Party dresses and suits have already been covered in great length here on Fashion Slave now that holiday season is in full swing, so I’m taking things south and touching on toes instead. If there’s a time when you want to amp up the sparkle or dose up on drama, it’s right now. But whilst killer heels may be the go-to option for high-glamour parties, what’s left for when you’ve got those slightly more casual shindigs? You know, cocktails in that cool new bar in town that you might be hitting after work? Or perhaps a festive Friendsmas dinner? You want to look chic and stylish, of course, but you don’t want to look like you’re trying too hard, or totally overdressed.
Well it’s about not going totally out there with your sartorial shoe choice – it’s about opting for something sexy, sassy, stylish, but also somewhat sophisticated enough to make work from day until night. Sock boots have been a killer option as they tick all of those boxes, and Ego’s black shimmery design add a pretty little festive spin on the trend, and their party range of heels and boots has you covered for practically any Christmas occasion.
A light Christmas dinner with friends followed by drinks is always a slightly awkward occasion to dress for. What even is the dress code?! It’s that old “what the hell do I even wear out on a Friday night?” question but reframed in a festive light with a side order of mince pies and mulled wine. And when you’re not entirely sure where the night may take you (I mean, we all know how the dance floor calls after around five glasses of prosecco, right?) it makes the sartorial equation even more difficult to figure out. My formula to nailing this goes like so: layer a cute and cosy jumper over a sassy yet simple slip dress, so that if you end up in that club later, the jumper comes off to reveal a look with a lot more attitude. Anchor it with some glittery boots that’ll elevate your look to something that feels far more party-ready.
