5 Ways To Wear Embroidery

Episode 2 of my AW16 Trends mini-series is all about embroidery

Two things come to mind when I think of embroidery. Grannies and children. At least, this is what I used to think of before Gucci, Marc and Stella made a case for making it cool again. Nifty needlework made a real puncture in the SS16 style scene, and whilst argued to be impossible for the high street to replicate, brands like Topshop and Glamorous have certainly made a beyond-worthy attempt for those (like me) on a millennial budget. Why has this intricate, embroidered trend pulled at the heart strings of style? Its playful attitude, eye-catching prettiness, and ability to elevate everyday essentials into something with show-stopping ability. For this week’s episode of my AW16 trends mini-series, I’ve taken another 5 key pieces of the embroidered and styled them up in this little lookbook style video. Shop each section below!

Jackets
A dash of embroidery transforms a simple jacket into something worthy of starting a conversation.

Dresses
Perfect to take down a folksy direction, I’ve been wearing mine with over the knee boots.

Skirts
If only I could afford the Gucci one – I’ve thrown it in the edit below for good measure! Luckily, there’s plenty of high street alternatives.

Tops
Bonus points for cosy sweaters and stunning blouses.

Jeans
A delicate trail of embroidered roses will never fail to look chic and give dress-down-denim an air of prettiness.
