3 Ways To Wear A Bodysuit for SS16

What do Fame (the musical), ballet dancers, Beyonce and the Kardashians kollectively have in common? A serious taste for bodysuits. And it seems that spring/summer is following in their well-heeled, leg-warmer clad footsteps with these slinky, figure-skimming styles cropping up on every stylishly-inclined female. Yes, the bodysuit may have come to sartorial notoriety in the glittering
excess of the 1980s, but it’s a revival that’s distancing itself from its retro roots, with a comeback grounded in super sleek minimalism as opposed to what you’d expect your mum’s attempt of a #tbt would resemble. New Look challenged me to style one in three ways. The result? A slick take on tailoring, a retro-inspired look with sports references, and off-duty casual.
Of course, the question on your lips – if you haven’t already been sucked into this skintight trend – will be something along the lines of why would you want to wear something that looks like a top but is actually a billion times more difficult to wear because it goes the entire way around your crotch thus making a quick dash to the loo far an impossible task? Why not just wear a normal top and tuck it in?

Cut from second-skin jersey, there’s no lumps, bumps, or creases when you tuck them in, giving you the neatest, sleekest silhouette imaginable (if you have a small waist with large hips like myself, you’ll be wondering how you ever got by without one)
Layer beneath a boyfriend blazer and tucked into tailored trousers for a sharp-meets-sexy aesthetic dripping with equal parts assertion and allure. Style one with trainers and slouchy boyfriend jeans to cut an urban image. Or slip one against a diaphanous pleated midi and some oh-so covetable slingbacks to anchor then try and tell me that you can’t feel the balletic romance.
Then of course, when you strip down to the bodysuit question in the evening, you can’t help but feel a little bit Beyonce in her All The Single Ladies video.

All looks feature the black ribbed bodysuit.

  4. I'm completely with you on this. I recall hating bodysuits when I was kid and being super awkward in the bathroom department. I'm totally in love with the one I have now and looking at buying a million more, sleekest lines ever! love
