Playground Tactics: the Backpack is back (and here to stay)

I have never been a backpack girl. As soon as I left primary school I begged my mum to let me ditch my shabby canvas backpack in favour of a Jane Norman shopper (naturally, like every 13 year old girl) and despite the backpack now being a must-have accessory for some time, I’ve been particularly – and unfashionably, in this case – late to the party on this one. But proof that even the most staunch non-believers can be converted, here I am with my new favourite bag. Well, backpack, more like.

Say hello to CRU London’s darling Gordon design. You’ve probably seen it popping up all over in my Thailand posts, and that’s simply because I took it absolutely everywhere with me. Minimal, sleek, with an angular silhouette, it’s an achingly cool alternative to any tote, clutch, or shoulder bag that I own. This schoolyard staple has been elevated to it-accessory, suspended from the shoulders of any woman worth her sartorial stripes. And thanks to Burberry’s monogrammed iteration, it looks like this trend is set to stay. My favourite way to wear this playground piece? Slung over the shoulder against a bar-ready outfit, just to put a touch of edge in against the usual mix of feminine, night-out-with-the-girls style.

  1. You look incredible! The Jane Norman bag thing gave me a little chuckle – it was a true classic! I love this backpack slightly more though (although I wouldn't complain if the Jane Norman carrier made an appearance on your blog too!)
