Mulberry Del Rey

Apart from the one tartan scarf I bought earlier this year in the winter, the last time I wore tartan was during my emo/goth. Don’t Judge. We’ve all been there: captivated by Avril Lavigne’s skater girl philosphy of baggy jeans, grubby eyeliner and striped ties over vest tops (seriously who let that happen?)

But the chaotic spirit of punk has punched it’s way back through in many collections for the upcoming seasons. Models draped in chains, bound in leather, and covered in checks: this was the image all over over Versace, Moschino, and Celine, to name just a few.

Elements of anarchy are still hinted at in this outfit through the tartan, chain necklace, leather, spiked heels, but all in a subtle and feminine way.

What are you’re thoughts on the tartan/punk trend? Love or loathe? I’d love to know..

I cant wait to team this tartan tee with a fetishy vinyl pencil skirt… at least when the weather isn’t quite so sticky.

Now I need it. And yes, the Avril stage. The amount of eye liner that was sacrificed so I could channel that angsty anger during the teenage years.
