Consider this two-trend-nailing coat the answer to your AW16 prayers
It’s time to get out your new-season sartorial check list. Pink – check. Leopard print – check. All topped off with a pair of fugly (which in fashion speak means fabulous) Gucci loafer mule dupes – check! And it all sounds like a winning formula to me. Leopard-print can have that serious look-at-me attitude about it. It can be glamorous. It can be rock n roll. It can be tacky when placed in the wrong hands… Yet even through making the most minimal contribution to this coat in the form of two patch pockets, leopard print transforms this piece into a serious statement-maker.
This was the major piece that people were tweeting me and commenting about in my leopard-print lookbook video as for some bizarre reason it just dropped off the ASOS site. But luckily, it’s back on! Whilst the whole world has been looking to Gucci to inform their styling, and both pink and leopard print was found in abundance colouring and crawling on that particular runway, I’ve styled this show-stopping coat without the more-is-more credentials it could so easily carry. What can I say – it’s just a little more me when worn with ripped jeans and a simple tee! One of my guiltiest habits is opting for statement coats and sticking to a uniform of simplicity beneath, but then with a piece so dramatic, why not let it take centre stage?
Episode 2 of my new YouTube mini-series will be going live on Sunday styling a new trend in a lookbook so make sure you have subscribed my channel to catch that as soon as it goes live! For now, catch up with episode 1 above!
